Whiteout Survival Territory Planner
Plan your alliance layout around the bear traps: the HQ, the banners, both traps and every member's city, packed close to the traps on the state map, with no hole an enemy can teleport into.
Free, no account, works for every state.
What makes a good hive
Short marches
In Bear Hunt every second of march counts. March time follows a straight line from a city to its trap, so a good hive packs every member as close to their trap as the ground allows.
No way in
An enemy city is 2×2 and can teleport onto any empty 2×2. Keep every member 7 tiles inside your land and leave no such spot near them.
No wasted banners
An alliance holds at most 285 banners (flags), and every one after the first ten costs resources. A banner that covers nothing new is resources thrown away.
Resources within reach
The alliance mines beside your members and the facility bonuses nearby belong in the plan from the start, not added later.
Why this planner
| What | This planner | Most other sites and tools |
|---|---|---|
| The ground | The game's own map, the same in every state: mountains, lakes, facilities, mines and zones | An empty grid |
| The hive | Laid out in one click, everyone closest to their trap | Every city placed by hand |
| Teleport gaps | Found and closed for you | Up to you to spot |
| Banners | The fewest needed, with the 285 limit and the cost counted | Counted by hand |
| Mines and facility bonuses | Banner roads built for you | Drawn by hand |
| Sharing | A picture for Discord, a who-goes-where list for chat, and a link | A picture or a link |
Plan it step by step
- Set the attendance. In the Hive tab, enter how many members go to bear trap 1, how many to bear trap 2, and how many can go to either.
- Place the block. Choose Place block, move it over the map (R rotates, F flips) and click. The HQ, both traps, every city and their banners go down together, packed closest to the traps. Already have land? Place the pieces from the Place tab and choose Calculate instead.
- Fix what the planner flags. A red bar reports any gap: Show takes you there, Close gaps fills it. The stats panel warns when a bear trap is not fully on your land.
- Reach mines and facilities. The Mines tab claims the mines of one kind; the Facility bonus panel builds a road of banners to the nearest facility with the bonus you pick.
- Trim the banners. Optimize, in the Edit tab, offers each banner you can spare, one at a time, without losing a mine, a facility or a safe city.
- Share it. Save image makes a picture of the plan with its colour key, ready for Discord. Copy list gives every member's X:Y, trap by trap, to paste in the alliance chat. Copy link puts the whole plan in one link for your R4s.

Bear trap layout tips
Where to put the hive, from playing it:
- In the Icefield, the best spot is close to the Tundra.
- Settle between facilities. Their bonuses give you a boost early in the game, and with the hive next to them a few banners are enough to reach them.
And measured with the planner's own best layouts on open ground:
- Two traps beat one. With 100 members on one trap, the farthest city sits about 12 tiles away. Split over two traps, about 9.6.
- Keep the traps 8 to 10 tiles apart, centre to centre, and put the members who can join either rally between them: they end up about 4 tiles from a trap.
- Plan for about 10 tiles. With 100 members and two traps, every city fits within about 10 tiles of its trap, most within 7.
- Keep the HQ away. In the best layouts it sits 18 to 25 tiles from the first trap, its own land clear for new members, joined to the hive by a road of banners.
- Pick open ground. Mountains, lakes and facilities near the traps take city spots and push members outwards.
- Count on 33 to 42 banners for a hive of 60 to 100 members, its safe distance included.
Mistakes the planner catches
- A hole just outside the border. A 2×2 gap one tile past your land is as open to a teleport as one inside it. The planner checks both.
- A trap that slipped off the land. Move or delete one banner and part of a bear trap can end up outside your territory. The stats panel names the trap and how many of its tiles are out.
- Cities on the HQ's land. "Teleport near HQ" drops new members around the HQ, so the planner keeps its 15×15 clear.
- Banners side by side. Two banners closer than 4 tiles waste much of their 7×7. The planner keeps them apart.
- One trap, two groups. With a single bear trap, Calculate asks whether to add the second at the best spot or to plan for one trap.
The game rules behind it
Every rule the planner uses comes from the game and was checked on live states:
- A march to a bear trap runs from the centre of a city to the centre of the trap, in a straight line, with a floor of about 10 seconds.
- A banner claims 7×7 tiles and the HQ 15×15. Banners whose squares touch only at a corner are still joined: one live state has 193 banners connected that way.
- The land of two alliances can overlap.

Questions
What is a hive in Whiteout Survival?
The members' cities packed around the alliance's bear traps, inside the alliance territory, so everyone reaches the trap fast during Bear Hunt and no enemy can teleport in between.
How far inside the land should members be?
Seven tiles from the edge, with no empty 2×2 spot around them. A strip one tile wide is fine: no city fits on it.
How many banners can an alliance have?
Up to 285. The first 10 are free; the planner shows what the others cost as you place them.
Does it work for my state?
Yes. Every state in Whiteout Survival has the same map, so a plan made here fits yours.
Can I share a plan in Discord?
Yes. Save image makes a picture with the colour key; Copy list gives each member's X:Y to paste in chat; Copy link shares the whole plan, which anyone can open and change in their own copy.
Flags or banners?
The same thing: many players call alliance banners flags. Each one claims 7×7 tiles.
Is it free? Is it official?
It is free, needs no account and runs in your browser. It is a fan-made tool, not affiliated with Century Games.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. A computer or a tablet gives you more room to draw the territory.
